Upon researching activities for summer programming for my ESL class, I stumbled across Free Reading. And boy what a cool resource!
It's an opensource reading instruction program. Think Wikipedia meets first-grade reading workbook - where teachers post effective lessons, comment on what works and what doesn't, modify lessons and share their modifications online.
It's free and has a multitude of reading activities and methods. You can find activities based on target areas, like phonics or comprehension, download word cards, and more.
